Come the weekend. You get ready meet up with all your friends and do the same, old tired thing you did last weekend, and the weekend before that. It all gets a bit boring after a while.

Why not try to spice up your social scene, by hosting a black and white theme party, theme parties are a great way to get friends together and do something really different. Plus they are not only lots of fun to attend, but also to plan.

Invitations. It is so simple to e-mail all your friends, and it is good idea to spend time making your invite special. This gives you the opportunity to add extra information as to what to wear , what to bring, time to arrive, time the party ends.

Decorations. Try to use black&white for all the party decorations to keep the theme going. Maybe run an old Black&White movie when your guests arrive. To enhance the ambiance use black candles, place them on a mirror and sprinkle table confetti on the mirror just magic. Black&White balloons can be placed almost anywhere, and are easy and cheap to purchase, streamers also work well.

Tableware. Try using a black table cloth, with white plates, cups and saucers, all china will set of the cloth, white napkins, large white trays to serve the food.

Food. Not all the food can be white it will depend what sort of meal you are serving. You will need to use your imagination, white bread, rice, white soups, white fish, chicken potatoes lots of choice, for sweet vanilla ice cream, and white chocolate with white coffee. You could use any meat in a black bean sauce, dark rye bread, and dark chocolate and black coffee to finish.

Drink. To reflect the theme of the party is a great idea. Since we are working with black&white, you need to use your imagination, and create drinks with a black& white theme Chocolate martinis, white and black Russians, your call experiment it could be fun, but do not get to tipsy before the guests arrive.

Attire Men. This is the make or break party piece. You will have asked your guests on the invitation what to wear. For both men and women it must be black and white without exception. Depending wether its casual or more formal. If its to be more formal than casual, the men will need to wear a Jacket. The best match of course is a white Jacket and black trousers, black shirt, and if you have them white shoes, would really set of the black&white theme.

Attire Women. Wow the sky’s the limit, black skirt, white top, black stockings, white shoes, that little black dress with a white belt, the white and black variations are end less.

Music. You will again have to use your imagination, and keep in the theme of black&white, Michael Jackson’s” Black or White” AC/DC”s “Back in Black” Billy Idol”s “White Wedding” and Paul McCartney”s “Ebony and Ivory” “Elvis Costello “Black&White World” and if its Xmas time the best of all the age old classic “White Christmas”

Well just a few ideas to brighten up those weekends that have become much of a much ness. I am sure that you and your friends will derive as much pleasure from organizing, or attending. With this in mind make sure if you are organizing to give it your best shot, no half measures full on and you will be the talk of the town.

White is synonymous with a variety of sports that predominately wear white.

Tennis players have to wear white clothes at Wimbledon perhaps the best known lawn tennis tournament in the world.

Wimbledon was founded in 1868 as the All England Croquet Club and in 1875 Lawn Tennis was introduced and other than a few changes the rules drawn up then have lasted to the current day.

Small piece of trivia the then lawns were laid out in such a way that the principle court was in the middle with all the others courts around it hence The Centre Court.

In 1922 Wimbledon moved from Worple Road to its present site in Church Road, and has survived many ups and downs, to become the most prestige’s tennis tournament in the world.

Well known English players have included Fred Perry the last English player to win the competition, and everybody’s favourite Tim Henman much loved but could never quite bring home the bacon.

Someone who could bring home the bacon is Roger Federer who won his first junior title in 1998,and has gone on to win more Championships at Wimbledon than any other player, his sporting hero’s growing up were Boris Becker, and favourite player was Pistol Pete Sampras.

What else makes Roger stand out from the crowd, he really sartorially personifies Mr Cool who can but sits back and admire how he looks in his White Jacket that he wears when he collects the Wimbledon trophy, he is the best and he looks the best.

Also maybe a little known fact regarding Roger is that he is very generous with his time and money, and has set up the Roger Federer Foundation which supports disadvantaged children in South Africa. Where in 2005 he made a surprise visit to townships in Port Elizabeth, were on his behalf his parents opened a multipurpose sports complex consisting of two tennis courts a basketball court netball and football pitch, plus many other fundraising and charity able projects.

Roger has also won the overseas BBC sports personality of the Year in 2006-07, he is married to Mirka Vavinec a former player, and has twin daughters, he speaks English, Swiss, French and Swedish – with no end to his talents, also another piece of trivia had a Stamp released in 2007 in his birthplace of Basel.

In my opinion Tennis players look much smarter in all White and other venues have allowed players to wear whatever they like, but Wimbledon and Roger will always be my Venus in all White.

White uniforms in team sports, the most well known would be the English game of Cricket, played by twenty two players eleven on each side, it’s a game that is to some beyond comprehension. In a test match the game is set to last for five days and at the end there still may be no result, so you can see why some people find it hard to understand.

Cricketers in test matches wear cricket whites, these are also known as flannels, originally flannels were exclusively white or cream, today though in the shortened one-day game players wear multi coloured kit.

Why then a white uniform? Is it so either side are able to see the red ball, against white clothes, or is it that white reflects the sun and the heat during the summer months, whatever the reason, to see twenty two men or women run out onto a green field on a summers day is a sight to behold.

Football the most watched, played, and popular sport on the planet, one of the biggest clubs Real Madrid wear an all white strip, Real were formed in 1902 and are reported to have 228 million supporters worldwide.

Real Madrid’s home ground is called the Santiago Bernabau and used to hold 120,000 fans but under new UAFA rules it now only houses 80,400.

Real Madrid holds many records in competitions and have won more European Cups than any other club, of course now the European Cup is better known as the Champions League.

Real Madrid have also had many of the best players that have laced up a pair of boots, they include, Di Stefano who arguably could be included as one of the best players ever, Frenc Puskas, Zidane Zidane, and of course at the moment they have just paid a world record for Ronaldo who could turn out to be the best yet.

Atletico Madrid are there local rivals, but the games between Real and Barcelona are perceived to be a matter of life and death, not just because of rivalry but also language.

Also small piece of trivia, Real Madrid are one of the few clubs of which the members are the owners.

Other English football teams that have worn all white strips have included, Bolton Wanderers 1969-1971,Leeds United 1961-1976,Totenham Hotspurs 1985-1987 sponsor Holsten, and 2007-2008,Derby County 1965-1966.

Rugby Union the English Rugby teams strip was entirely white from 1871-1990,more trivia the game of rugby was developed at Rugby school hence the name, and all teams used to wear white because it could be boiled washed to keep it clean.

In summary, white has and is one of the most popular colours for team sports, originally because it was easy to keep them clean, with the advent of non running man made materials other colours have become more readily available but white has stood the test of time and is still a colour in demand.

For the past year I have been researching the colour white, in clothing, foods, drinks, buildings, and all manner of interesting facts, and have come across some White Trivia which i would like to share.

Buildings. The White House in Washington DC, was previously called The Presidents Palace, The Presidents House, The Executive Mansion, before being given its current name in 1901 by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1901.

The White Tower, in the Tower of London. Built by William the Conquer in 1066 .infamous for the murder of the two Princes by Richard the third. Prisoners held in the Tower included, Sir Thomas Moore, Thomas Cromwell, Anne Boleyn, and the Princess Elizabeth, who became Queen Elizabeth the 1st. The Tower also houses the Crown Jewels.

The Taj Mahal in India is built of White marble and was constructed in 1649 by an Emperor in memory of his wife, and is one of the seven wonders of the Ancient world. As is the Great Pyramid in Cairo. It was originally covered by casing stones and painted in limestone, as is the White House.

Whitechapel. The area of London owes its name to the white stone used to build the stone chapel of St Mary Matfelon in 1329. It is probably better known for the unsavory murders of seven prostitutes, in1888-91 by the killer nicknamed Jack the Ripper. The murders remained unsolved to this day, although many suspects have been put forward as the murderer.

Wiltshire White Horses. There are twenty four horses carved into the chalk hills in the UK Thirteen are in the county of Wiltshire and only the one at Uffington is regarded as Prehistoric origin. The White horse at Westbury legend has it, was built in 878AD by King Alfred to commemorate a victory over the Danes. Unfortunately the builder had the horse facing out of the town, instead of in, and Alfred had him be-headed.

Isle of Wight. Is so named because of its coastline, that has a chalk ridge running across the island. The island is also famous as the final home of Britain’s longest serving monarch Queen Victoria 1891-1901.also the longest serving Monarch in history, and had nine children. The poet Alfred Lord Tennyson of “The Charge of The Light Brigade fame. Charles Dickens wrote most of David Copperfield on the island.

“The War of the Roses” 1455-1485 fought between the “House of York” the White Rose, “ House of Lancaster the Red Rose.”. Victory went to the Red Rose represented by Henry Tudor, who”s dynasty ruled for 117 years. Crusaders Knights Templers wore White Mantles with distinctive Red Crosses.

Famous People Named White. The great romantic singer Barry White 1944-2003 best remembered for his hit I”m Gonna Love You a Little bit More”, and his Love Unlimited Orchestra. Paul Whitehouse the actor and writer, perhaps best known for his work with Harry Enfield, and the fast show. Whitehouse also created Stavros and the Loads Money characters for Enfield. James Warren White otherwise known as “Jimmy the Whirlwind White” ten times snooker champion, and second in six world championships. Jimmy is also known as the peoples champion and is one of the few to have had a 147 break. Well known actors actresses include Cilla Black who was Pricila White, David Jason of Fool”s and Horse”s fame, was David John White, Elton John was nearly a White christened Reginald Dwight .Nothing to do with White but interesting, John Cleesse was John Cheese, Eric slow hand Clapton was Eric Clapp, easy to understand need for change.

White Cliffs Of Dover in the UK we have two famous sites with White Cliffs. White Cliffs of Dover are perhaps the most well known, before air travel, if you were traveling to and from the UK, its likely that the first and last sight you would see is the White Cliffs of Dover During the second World war Vera Lynn sang the song “There will be Blue Birds over The White Cliffs of Dover” which became the tune that enabled the Brits to keep their chins up.

I have only scratched the surface of trvial facts about the colour white, it has all been so very interesting, researching the history of all the above subjects. I am in danger of becoming the pub bore with “did you know”.it may sound a cliche but i never realized how apparent White affects all our lives on a daily bases, if you give some thought to what is White in your day you will be very surprised.

Have you ever wondered why anyone would order a suit on the Internet when it seems much easier to go down the high street or shopping centre. I have a few reasons why the internet can sometimes prove a better prospect.

Lets first deal with ease. I for one no longer feel it is easy to go to a shopping centre or high street it should be but the parking, the traffic, pushing and shoving, hordes of people in your way not any fun anymore.

When to shop if you are at work all day and only get the weekend free. By the time you sort out the kids, do the shopping, clean the car, need to catch up with a bit of sport, have some time with your mates the weekend has gone.

Time. The benefit of shopping on the internet you can do it anytime, day or night and still have those free precious hours free to do what you like and not be one of the crowd.

You may feel sizing is a problem, but most men have a rough idea of what size they are and most internet sites are fairly idiot proof when ordering a suit.

A few hints on ordering. Look in a old suit and see what size it is. If it fits – that’s what you want. Jackets come in a short size regular and long. Again no need to be a genius to order short bloke needs short medium guy regular get the picture.

Trousers. Short is 30inch inside leg – Regular is 32inch – Long is 34inches. Trousers are either a flat front or pleated flat the most popular. It is not unusual for blokes to have a in between inside leg so a trip to the tailors is normal. Also it depends on what type of material you have on how the suit hangs for instance if heavy, trousers hang lower and hold the bottom of your shoes better.

Styling. Jackets come with either 1, 2 or 3 buttons. Two button is the most common. One button normally is a fashion item, but again style is in the eye of the beholder and you can only fit your size into what is available.

Fabrics wool is perceived to be the best and normally costs more. Linen or cotton is great all year round. Polyester and man-made fabrics tend to be cheaper, but have a more mass market and are arguably more fashionable.

Ordering now you know what you want all you have to do is select from the comfort of your armchair. Click the buttons look at what you want order securely through e-bay or credit card. Normally the item will be delivered next day by a delivery company or post direct to your door. Most reputable companies offer a full exchange if you are not happy with your purchase and full monies refunded.

It is also likely that your order could be much cheaper on the internet if the product is not a well known label. This is because most internet companies have less overheads than the high street. So it seems to me that there are many reasons and no excuses to buy on the internet.

Although most of us own, or have owned a suit of some description how many of us understand the power of marketing the personality by wearing a certain item of clothing ie a suit.

Mao Tse-tung . Politicians that have created an image, include one of the most famous in the annuals of the human race Mao Tse-tung – leader of the worlds most populous nation China. The Mao suit was named after Sun Yat -Sen who founded the Chinese republic in 1912. Under communism the majority of the population male and female took to wearing it so when we think of Mao we in our minds eye always see him in the ubiquitous Mao suit that was the image he portrayed all over the world.

Winston Churchill. In 1940 Winston posed for a picture carrying a machine gun, wearing a bowler hat, chewing a large cigar in the loudest pinstripe suit. Looking more like a Chicago gangster than a publicly educated Englishman. What was he trying to portray wearing that suit, that he and the English nation would not be an easy touch in the war. The gun and cigar was making a statement “a power statement” wearing a power suit which still last today in the corridors of government and business.

Charlie Chaplin. Anyone who remembers Charlie will always conjurer up the image of the down trodden little guy with the world against him, who never got the girl, the right job, or the right breaks. What did he wear to promote this image – a scruffy ill fitting suit that he always wore and made him his fortune.

Tom Wolfe. The best-selling American author and journalist whose notable works include the very successful novel The Bonfire of the Vanities. Wolfe also created a marketing image for himself in 1962 he adopted his trademark white suit. He bought his first white suit to wear in the style of a Southern gentleman in the summer months, but it was too heavy a material for the hot summer months. So by a quirk of fate he wore it in the winter instead and it created a sensation and from that day on it became his trademark.

Colonel Harland Sanders. The founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken the man who revolutionized the way the world eats on the run, with a billion dinners served annually in more than 80 countries. What made KFC and the Colonel so successful – one the product but two the personality. He was brave or eccentric enough to put on the white suit and build an image that he believed in. To found a company that spans the world who we will always remember as the man in the white suit.

James Bond. The fictional character invented by Ian Flemming, played originally by the actor Sean Connery as the suave MI5 agent, flying round the world in the company of beautiful women, dodging bullets, drinking vodka martinis, involved in manic car chases, and how best is he summed up dress wise the tuxedo either full black or white jacket bow tie. A look that the author also was apt to imitate.

There are more numerous people to add to this list, but i think it proves the point that a mans suit can and are a great marketing tool, that can be used to influence – maybe intimidated – the way we view certain products or people in the real world.

How do you imagine the perfect suit as the old saying goes, one mans meat is another mans poison, and I think that is as true today as it ever was, and this also applies to what we like and do not like in the perfect suit.

1 Colour simply is a mine field. Blue, black, brown, grey, pinstripe, check, herringbone and the new in colour white, a multitude of choices.

2 Materials there are a number of commonly used fabrics for mens suits, including:

wool

tweed

flannel

non-wool polyester

linen

micro fibres

linen

cotton

viscose

but again it is up to you to choose.

3 There are pros and cons to most fabrics a 100% wool worsted can affect people, if they have to wear directly onto their skin it can be very irritable. I also think that it is a falsie that wool is heavier to wear a good 100% wool suit is as light as any other material and better wearing. Linen and cotton can crease easily but is cool in summer and can make you look relaxed and maybe rakish!

Polyester and other man made fabrics also tend to be lighter and also have a more younger look ie a slight sheen more flexible feel.

4 The main goal now is if you have made your mind up what material you like you need to find a suit that fits and what sort of style you want. The jacket is the most important part of the suit. You can have one-three buttons, single or double breasted. The most popular at present is the two button and single breasted. It is also very easy to choose what size you need you can buy in short regular or long and most guys should have idea what they are no excuses for buying on the Internet.

5 Trousers it is normal to have two front pockets, two back, pleats or flat front, flat being the most popular for every day wear and pleats for more formal wear. Again no excuses for ordering on the net sizes come in short, regular and long. Short normally is 30in inside leg Regular 32in Long 34in unfortunately most of us blokes have a odd inside leg and it is not unusual to have a trip to the tailors and spend £10 to have them altered.

6 Dependent on your size you can choose a Classic style for the more ample figure. Contemporary for a normal fit and fashion if you are young or slim enough to get away with it. It can also be an advantage when choosing your suit that you can mix and match your Jacket and Trousers with other garments in your wardrobe.

7 What is a Perfect suit. To summarize a Perfect Suit is in the eye of the wearer, something that you personally feel at home in, whether it is expensive or not, a comfortable suit will make you feel more confident at work or play so its worth its weight in gold.
