What makes white such an outstanding colour to wear?

What is it about the colour White?

Why is it that the colour white makes a immediate impression on our mind or subconscious more than  any other colour, is it the correlation regarding people,  how they dress, or animals  we have owned or loved ,all of us has an  attraction to white.
