How do you imagine the perfect suit as the old saying goes, one mans meat is another mans poison, and I think that is as true today as it ever was, and this also applies to what we like and do not like in the perfect suit.

1 Colour simply is a mine field. Blue, black, brown, grey, pinstripe, check, herringbone and the new in colour white, a multitude of choices.

2 Materials there are a number of commonly used fabrics for mens suits, including:

• non-wool polyester
• linen
• micro fibres

• cotton
• viscose

but again it is up to you to choose.

3 There are pros and cons to most fabrics a 100% wool worsted can affect  people, if they have to wear directly onto their skin it can be very irritable. I also think that it is a falsie that wool is heavier to wear a good 100% wool suit is as light as any other material and better wearing. Linen and cotton can crease easily but is cool in summer and can make you look relaxed and maybe rakish!

 

Polyester and other man made fabrics also tend to be lighter and also have a more younger look ie a slight sheen more flexible feel.

4 The main goal now is if you have made your mind up what material you like you need to find a suit that fits and what sort of style you want. The jacket is the most important part of the suit. You can have one-three buttons, single or double breasted. The most popular at present is the two button and single breasted. It is also very easy to choose what size you need you can buy in short regular or long and most guys should have idea what they are no excuses for buying on the Internet.

5 Trousers it is normal to have two front pockets, two back, pleats or flat front, flat being the most popular for every day wear and pleats for more formal wear. Again no excuses for ordering on the net sizes come in short, regular and long. Short normally is 30in inside leg Regular 32in Long 34in unfortunately most of us blokes have a odd inside leg and it is not unusual to have a trip to the tailors and spend £10 to have them altered.

6 Dependent on your size you can choose a Classic style for the more ample figure. Contemporary for a normal fit and fashion if you are young or slim enough to get away with it. It can also be an advantage when choosing your suit that you can mix and match your Jacket and Trousers with other garments in your wardrobe.

7 What is a Perfect suit. To summarize a Perfect Suit is in the eye of the wearer, something that you personally feel at home in, whether it is expensive or not, a comfortable suit will make you feel more confident at work or play so its worth its weight in gold.
