Famous Actors Who Wear White Suits

As white suits are all the rage as the in colour to wear, it is interesting to look at some of the actors that have made the white suit a statement of intent – this is me here- I come larger than life.

Peter O’Toole – the star of Lawrence of Arabia – which won best picture is reputed to have bought a white suit and hired a white Rolls Royce and cruised Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles waving to people on the pavement as if he was some kind of Royalty. He confided to a friend that no one took a blind piece of notice, but he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Other famous films and actors with white suits include:

  1. Old movie stars Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca?
  2. Sydney Greenstreet in the Maltese Falcon.
  3. Inspector Poirot the famous character bought to life by Agatha Christie in Murder on The Nile played by Peter Ustinov. A stunning backdrop of the River Nile and oozing old world charm, but it was Inspector Poirot in the White Suit that stole the show.
  4. Then there is the sinister aspect of the white suited Mafia boss Fanucci. The extortion merchant cut down by the young Corleone.
  5. Who could ever forget the cocaine snorting gangster in the film Scarface played by the spine chilling Robert De Nero.
  6. Richard Gere in An Officer and a Gentleman.
  7. Of all the TV series that ran for years, the most well known one that was the epitome of the White Suit wearer was Don Johnson in Miami Vice. His image was cool and he spawned a million look a likes at fancy dress parties.
  8. The character in the Austin Power films who was a spoof James Bond.
  9. All those James Bond films with Sean Connery in his White Jacket with cigarette in hand with a dry martini (shaken not stirred).
  10. The enormously successful film Mamma Mia with a plethora of stars, but none so bright as Piers Bronson in his white suit.
